CJL and Howell both did a nice job hedging on the ball screens at the top and keeping Ryan Anderson from getting his typical bullcrap in the lane. GG for stepping up and playing well last night CJ.

They were both closing out on shooters too that were open due to ball screens and switches. And also when other guys would come off their man for help defense.

this is unlike the usual stand under the basket for a hopeful miss and try to get a rebound.

I enjoyed that defensive strategy MUCH better. Close out and count on zo/wood/warren/purvis to know how to box out at the collegiate level, which they were doing. Fun defensive game to watch for a change.

He was pretty beastly in the postseason last year, so hopefully he gives us an encore performance.

Indeed, last night was the kind of performance we've been waiting for from him. Sure, his shot wasn't falling early, but he stayed engaged defensively and on the boards which eventually led to his offense starting to work for him. We are an elite team when he plays like that.
