^^^^ a "traditional" engagement ring, to me, is anything solitaire or anything with small side stones that are not the same cut as the center stone (i.e. a round center with trillion side stones)

although, some rings with side stones the same shape as the center stone can still look like engagement rings...it just depends

but specifically the "past, present, and future" rings i consider more anniversary rings than engagement rings..but that's just me
