RE: the spoiler.

Entirely possible and likely that they crash on the correct planet. The Space jockey is in too much of the exact same spot in the trailer for this not to be the case.

Plus, why do ppl get their panties in a bunch over spoilers: There is so much more to a movie than just the plot.

No kidding, I kind of hated that I posted that gif. There are always people who don't want to know any little detail before actually seeing a movie and that's fine but they shouldn't be checking out message boards.

Yes. I always thought she hotter than average but that split second put her up into a higher category. Usually this sort of thing happens the other way around. I think an actress is hot and then one day I'm like WTF was I thinking.

Theron is the textbook example of "hot" white chicks that actually are very attractive IRL.

Cheer up, I was wrong it's actually showing in two IMAX theaters in standard and 3D formats. I'm stoked. If you do happen to go to the 12:01 AM friday showing there's supposed to be a special program you get for that showing only. It's not my kind of thing but you know, just in case.

IMAX here pisses me off. Always sold out and way too expensive.

I went to Okalahoma city last month and saw avengers in IMAX 3D for like $20. They had 5 theaters showing it in IMAX during the day.

^What's the 3D like? I haven't seen a 3D movie in probably 10 years and it was just meh. I think it was the James Cameron Titanic documentary.

whatever trailer they are showing on TV now, it's basically scenes spliced in with quotes from critics, but if you watch the source listing of the quotes, it's like 9 quotes over the course of the trailer from only three different sources, and although I don't know my movie critique outlets very well, I can't imagine that they are reputable sources.

There's a few different kinds. The imax 3D uses linear polarization so if you tilt your head you lose the 3D effect. Disney/3D uses circular polarization. There's small differences but generally it's a lot better than it used to be.

It's almost to the point (for me at least) that you forget you're wearing glasses and it just enhances the movie. As long as they aren't doing crazy depth of field effects every couple minutes I think it's definitely an added bonus to action movies.

I'm not sure what it is but every 3d movie I've seen looks like they screw up the focusing. It's like both the foreground and the background are always in focus.

All of the reviews are pretty similar in their criticism so far, weak scrip, strong acting from main cast, and amazing visuals. Basically it's not an instant classic but still a very strong film.

Also reading a lot of comments that Lindelof gave Prometheus the LOST treatment; load down the story with a barrage questions up front and answer only a few in the end; there is suposedly a sequel planned.

I'll try to dig up the source but I also read somewhere that there was an NC-17 cut that we'll only get to see as deleted scenes on the Blu-Ray/DVD.

Hopefully this will be a movie that gets better upon repeat viewings. I'm still pretty excited and a 80% on Rotten Tomatoes is still damn good for a sci-fi movie. To put it in perspective, Blade Runner has a 92% and most of those are revised scores; that movie opened to very mixed reviews back in 1982.
