Oh i see it's fine for you guys to ramble on bashing Wilson but the second someone presents an intelligent opinion you can't take it.

Look. The media is going to be all over this. They love a good sweetheart.

Russell Wilson is going to be the new darling of the NFL. He's the 3rd round pick that no one has ever heard of who is likely going to be just as good as two of the most heralded rookie QB prospects the NFL has ever seen.

The stories at first will be "How did Miami take Tannehill over this guy?" "How did everyone miss on him?" "Who knew a short QB could succeed?""

I still think the Jags decision to draft a punter over Russell Wilson will pay off.

I mean they already had blaine gabbert AND chad henne. Getting a third great quarterback would just be superflous"

I guess you could ask why did State retire Philip's jersey?

I dont get why State would do it either. Wilson left the school to go a bigger school where he was noticed more on a bigger stage.

"Bennett tried to make a reservation over the phone at an exclusive unnamed eatery Tuesday, thinking his status as a defensive star for the NFL's top team was good enough. After all, he returned a Drew Brees fumble 22 yards for a touchdown just one night earlier.

Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett returned a fumble by Drew Brees for a touchdown Monday but had to pretend to be Russell Wilson to score a table at an exclusive eatery the next night.
"But they told me they were all booked up," Bennett said in a 710 ESPN radio interview.

Undeterred, Bennett had an alternate plan of action.

"I called them back a few minutes later," he said. "I said, 'Hey, this is Russell Wilson. I'll be attending your restaurant today. Do you have any tables?'

"And she was like, 'Yes! We can make a table for you! You were 22-for-30 the other night, 130 quarterback rating!' She knew every stat."

...

"She took me to the table and they had it roped off," Bennett said. "They had sparkling water and everything.""

MVP hopes pretty much ended yesterday which so-so performance at 49ers and Manning going bananas again. Oh well, still awesome to see him get some recognition in the MVP discussion.

Last year's ROY is about to be benched, while the real ROY is about to get home field for the playoffs

Maybe if the real ROY had managed to throw for 200 yards last week he would've already locked up homefield advantage. He's a hell of a game manager though.

Russell Wilson is actually an amazing person, Kapernick is just another high paid athlete. Wilson will be a Senator or Governor one day if he choses that route. Kapernick will just be a former QB.

Kaep doesn't seem like a bad guy to me, actually pretty decent from what I understand. But I didn't like his antics during the Panthers game (mostly b/c he was beating us). Also, not many people's Instagram timeline would stack up against RW's from a nobility standpoint. Go Wolfhawks!

why do you people give a damn about if an athlete is a nice guy or not? None of these guys are going to be your future close friend. You're not going to drive around with him in your pick up truck and talk about girls you cant be with.

only thing you need to see. Can this dude produce on the field? yes or no?

Michael Jordon was a damn jerk. no one like that man except for Nike and the naive public. It didn't matter. He produced.

because, sports aside, it's nice to know there are some decent people in the world among all the jerks. it's even a better story when the nice guys become wealthy and they stick to their morals.

Michale Jordan is a jerk. And while he'll always be known as one of the best basketball player to play the game, he'll also go down in infamy as being an asshole.

^ This. Michael Jordan has actually harmed his reputation by being an asshole. In 30 years, if say Lebron got 5 or 6 rings, sports writers and historians may look back and knock Jordan down a notch against Lebron simply because Lebron comes across as a good person whereas Jordan was and is a fucking prick.

Look at Ty Cobb. Dude was amazingly good, a top 5 baseball player ever, yet most people won't include him in that discussion because he was a racist piece of shit. Of the field stuff does matter to a lot of people. As an NC State fan, if TJ Warren is out thugging it up and getting in trouble, I will think less of him regardless if he is our only decent player and helps us win a few games. RW being an awesome person makes it that much easier to root for him.

^haha. I bet Californians are piiissed!

I think Kaepernick's downfall will be his cockiness. IMO, he is a better athlete that RW, but he doesn't have RW's work ethic. Last year, Kaep. went off near the end of the season because defenses weren't prepared for his speed or style of play. As time goes on, good defenses are preparing better for him and learning to contain him. Take Green Bay for example. Kaep. destroyed them in last year's playoffs, but this year he didn't light them up nearly as much, and their defense was worse this year as well.
Russell Wilson is always working to improve his craft and learn the game as much as possible. Over time he will have more staying power than Kaep.
