it's the overall section width. the tread width can vary some based on the profile (rounded vs squared off shoulders, etc)[Edited on November 18, 2009 at 11:55 PM. Reason : my theory is that under cornering load, the tire deforms and rolls over enough that it's a wash]
11/18/2009 11:54:51 PM
You should get something with a stiffer sidewall thenI'm tempted to upgrade to Potenzas RE070s when these wear out.
11/19/2009 11:56:09 AM
i'll show you a stiffer sidewall

Wolfwebbers, in my Car & Driver? It's more likely than you think.
11/26/2009 11:18:57 AM
So I recently changed from AP1 to AP2 V1 wheels with Sumitomo HTR ZIII tires (225f, 255r) and there is noticeably more grip. I now get to fairly easily take the cloverleaf on ramp to work at 55 in the mornings.
11/28/2009 8:47:12 PM
[obligatory]Sumitomo tires and they gotta be run flats[/obligatory]
11/28/2009 9:55:20 PM
Uhhhhhhhh
11/29/2009 10:50:47 PM
if any of you guys read this month's Car and Driver and saw the letter to the editor section I'm the guy that wrote the letter bitching about S2000 tops
12/4/2009 12:31:05 PM
12/4/2009 12:54:27 PM
HAHAHAHA. Yeah, I haven't read the issue yet so I didn't know about it. One of my co-workers informed me of it lol.Hence why even I was clueless
12/4/2009 2:14:53 PM
so i (finally) purchased a replacement for the s2000.04 volvo s60r, (BigT716's /// in the background.)
12/4/2009 2:19:50 PM

12/4/2009 2:31:48 PM
it's always time to up the boost!
12/4/2009 4:28:39 PM
why would the WASTE gate want to WASTE anything. Go green, unplug it!
12/4/2009 5:06:08 PM
FUCKI put those Star-Specs on the S2000 about 3 weeks ago. maybe even a little less.the rears are already nearly trashed...like getting down to near the wear bars. I got it aligned today...I was planning on doing it anyway, but figured that if I put it off for a couple of weeks, it wouldn't make any difference. When I noticed the tire wear, I pretty much moved it up to near-emergency priority, but the damage is pretty much already done.
12/8/2009 11:26:34 PM
wow that absolutely blows.
12/8/2009 11:50:41 PM
hahah what were the before specs on that alignment ?
12/9/2009 12:27:45 AM
I'll have the pull the sheet out and look. I want to say a half-degree off or somewhere around there.
12/9/2009 1:00:09 AM
So...I just got back from dropping my daughter off with her mother...had to drive home in the rain, and those rear tires are definitely toast. Less than one month of tire life =
12/13/2009 11:49:28 PM
^That's gotta be a record for the shortest lasting set of rear tires on a S2000 I've heard of.

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ctd/1498931363.htmlunsold 2008 Honda S2000 CR130 miles$26,298That...is quite a deal [Edited on December 21, 2009 at 1:17 PM. Reason : too bad about that ghey wing]
12/21/2009 1:16:22 PM
Man I remember seeing that a long time ago at that dealership
12/21/2009 1:19:30 PM
Amazing...They've been trying to move that car for a while.
12/21/2009 1:36:27 PM
Sounds like you had excessive toe, you have to remember even a small amount of cross toe side to side will mean that for every mile the car's driven (straight) the tires would be dragged sideways for dozens of feet. 1 degree would be more than enough to trash a set of soft rubber, like the star specs. If you do find the "before" specs, please share.

Freaking Honda!http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2009/12/honda-s2000-with-acura-tls-37l-v6.html[Edited on December 21, 2009 at 4:26 PM. Reason : d]

So, uhh, my S2000 is shaking and the steel belts are protruding from the right rear, with the left rear not far behind. I called Tire Rack and explained that I knew that those Star Specs were a soft, high-performance tire that wouldn't last long (and certainly had no treadlife warranty), but was there anything they could do? They offered 2 replacement tires at a cost of $90/each with free shipping...I'm very pleased with that.
12/21/2009 7:32:30 PM
Wow, that's great Duke. Good to hear.
12/21/2009 11:52:09 PM
^^^ lol so they pretty much gave it 70 more hp and about 100% more useable torque. nice [Edited on December 22, 2009 at 7:57 AM. Reason : .]

^^^ is fucking hottis that swapped s2000 with the 3.7L AWD or RWD?[Edited on January 7, 2010 at 12:20 AM. Reason : s]
1/7/2010 12:12:58 AM
Just RWD I think.
1/7/2010 9:09:11 AM
AWD would be hott, fo sho
1/7/2010 6:02:16 PM
sacrilegious for an S2000 actually.
1/9/2010 1:11:28 PM
drove my mom's s2000 this weekend. was good times.
1/10/2010 9:38:43 PM
^ so i don't really want a s2000 for myself. my level of desire of interaction with one would be something like having a good friend that once had an s2000, which was sold to his parents, whom i see a couple of times a year and are kind enough to let me toss it around for a bit.wait a minute...success!!!

I work 3rd shift. 4 days on 4 days off. This has been discussed a couple times already, in chit chat iirc. But yes, it rocks because technically I only work 6 months out of a year [Edited on January 16, 2010 at 8:11 PM. Reason : .]

1/19/2010 12:26:42 AM
yeah, the alignment was a little bit off.that, and i bet I drove 3000 miles or close to it over those particular 3 weeks.i never do burnouts (that is a ferociously abusive task in an S2000, anyway), but I have been known to slide it a little here and there.
