I emailed info@hopscotch to see how they could justify the huge gap between GA and VIP, given what VIP had been the last couple years (2 drink tickets at VIP parties, no food) and this was the response I got:

Made my decision to get a GA wristband SO easy. Especially considering the early bird price for VIP has historically been $199. I hope I end up regretting the decision, because that would mean Hopscotch is "back", but I won't hold my breath.

made the decision last year that whenever a legendary band/artist comes to NC, I’ll be there

that was based on seeing Paul McCartney live, and while the Pixies are no Beatles, I’m fine to spend $50 to see the Pixies

I’ve also seen them with Kim Deal, so that made the decision an even easier one

Yeah, I saw them with Kim sometime ~15 year ago, I think, at the Ritz. And I feel like I saw them another time too, but it's getting to the point that I'm forgetting about shows I've been to.

I may change my mind, but I assume it will sell-out.

Cool, I'll have to check that out. I have a vague recollection of them starting a song and Kim screwing-up, and they had to stop and restart again. I think it was the opening "Bone Machine"

^ it was Bone Machine, during that little bridge. and it was the FIRST song of the set. hilarious (and they were very funny and gracious about it)

they released a CD for every stop of that tour, which was awesome. and at the end of the tour, they released a best-of, and there were a few tracks from the Disco Rodeo show.

Yea Weyes Blood was phenomenal... and her opener Molly Lewis was really fun surprised I enjoyed 35 minutes of whistling so much.
