I'll be interested to see what the genesis of this investigation was. Was it started because of tips from neighbors, due to a pattern of crimes in the city, or was this an FBI created/encouraged plot?

There have been waaaay too many times when the FBI has basically created a terror plot so they could then talk about how they stopped something.

If these assholes really were plotting this independent of FBI involvement I hope they never see the light of day again. If they were just racist dickheads who never would have done more than verbally harass some brown people who were goaded and, for lack of a better term, radicalized by undercover feds then I hope they have the resources for a robust legal defense.

Yeah, exactly my point. They've certainly inserted people into undercover roles and pushed muslims to commit violence acts they would never have done. I see no reason this might not be the case here as well.

It's also possible that these guys really did come up with a conspiracy to commit mass murder and the FBI just happened to be in place and keeping an eye on them already. It would be the first time in quite a while.
