A functioning democracy should have enforced borders and immigration laws, with the democratically elected POTUS being able to do what the constitution says he can do without leftist judicial activists overstepping their authority.

In a functioning democracy, asking citizens to identify themselves shouldn't be considered "racist suppression", but common fucking sense.

Leftists don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to discussing voter fraud... you would think preventing voter fraud would be ONE THING we could agree on, then again, after seeing Scott Foval talk about bussing in people to vote...

First point I tend to agree with you here, but bear in mind that the activist stuff is on both sides of the aisle so it's irrelevant which party is in power. Also bear in mind it's the judicial branch's job to interpret the Constitution and ultimately comes down to what the Supreme Court decides. So, for instance with abortion and gun rights, the fact that people continuously try to beat the Supreme Court into changing previously established decisions baffles me.

Second point is more difficult in America given our history and our privacy rights/fourth amendment/etc.

Third point is like the first - both sides engage in it. So until we stop voting in the same people over and over it's not going to change. And by extension that means voting in the same TYPES of people which means you don't put someone like Putin's Vice President Donald Trump into office thinking he's an outsider.

He may be an outsider with respect to the system but he's not an outsider with respect to mentality.

^^What I meant was with respect to deflection, misdirection, lying, being two-faced, being corrupted by campaign donations rather than listening to voters. In terms of the flat out lying, he is beyond the bell curve but when it comes to the rest of it, really no different than most politicians.

Thank you for finally saying it correctly and not that he was self-funded.

** and Trump isn't corrupted by donors. He's just an idiot who is easily persuaded if you praise him. I guarantee if he met one on one with Bernie Sanders and he was praised effusively, he'd come out in support of livable minimum wage and single payer. Until the next person praised him.

Short memory? Nope, that's pretty much how I remember it. Thanks for the corroborating evidence.

Great men are often remembered for the foes they stood up to. FDR stood up to Adolf Hitler.

...And DJ Trump stood up to Rosie O'Donnell.

What a class act!

Decent, tbh. Reaffirmed Article 5, European alliances and even went after Putin a bit.

Only drawback is he still doesn't understand NATO defense spending part.

The trade deficit fell 2.3% in May. the best month in over 2 years.

Now if only Trump can understand the difference in the trade deficit and budget deficit.

Apparently at the G20 everyone is talking about John Podesta (who, of course, would not randomly be housing the fucking DNC server).

Or maybe only the voices in his head are.

(Also, isn't Cassandra Fairbanks a Bernie person? Why is she the first response asking to lock up Obama?)

Accept the fact that it could have been some 400 lb guy from NJ who did the DNC/Podesta hacks and leaks. Even after accepting that this is truly bonkers.

Does he REALLY think Russia is going to act in good faith when we are sharing cyber security with them?

^^Attn: TerdFerguson

Pay close attention to how any establishment democrats react to this story and future stories similar to the link above. If they use this opportunity to "act tough" and to try and get Trump to be confrontational with a nuclear power, then you'll know that they are just playing political football and trying to score cheap points. I hazard a guess that there will be some that use this as an opportunity to be hawkish.

^^^WTF would you have us do? Capitulate to the Russians, give them everything they request, bend over, spread our butt cheeks and allow the Russians to keep probing our cyber? That's some fucking Neville chamberlain shit right there. I'm no war monger, I'm not interested in a war with Russia, even a cold one. But Russia is hostile, there's no reason for us to handle them with kid gloves. If I'm president, I'm telling Russian diplomats to "eat shit and die" and we'll burn your god damn spy compounds to the ground. Seriously fuck Russia and their cyber attacks.

Also, I'm willing to bet almost no Dems actually invoke war in any way. They only "get tough" by accusing Trump of collusion, the trump admin being weak on national security, and Russia of cyber attacks, all of which are 100% true.

Regurgitating Putin talking points ITT.

I understand the US is no angel in regards to the cyber. As I've said repeatedly, the US needs to lead the way on the rules to the road regarding cyber attacks and it needs to make amends for stuxnet and all the other associated bullshit we've dealt out.

But none of that changes the fact that Russia is currently administering a massive cyber attack on us (as well as most of the West) coupled with other counter-Intel shit. It's not an existential threat that requires war, but it DAMN sure requires a response beyond Trump doing whatever Putin asks of him.

Y'all make it sound like I'm promoting air strikes on St. Petersburg. For god sakes, all I'm asking is for our shit gibbon president to not hand over Russian spy compounds and instead use them as a statement or a negotiating piece at some later date.

This is kind of nuts to me. There has to be some sort of consequences and not just an "awww shucks." Of course its deplorable we have done similar in the past. It shouldn't have happened and should not happen going forward. But if we are going to just cede a degree of our sovereignty to Russia (have you been convinced yet it was them?) this time what faith whatsoever should we have in our elections going forward?

The original post was just to tell them to go fish on the compounds in America -- not a huge response. I just see the return of them as a near apology and ridiculous.

In any case, you're 100% correct but without federalizing election boards what does that look like? The only thing the Kobach committee seems interested in is keeping the poors from voting.

^,^^yes, it's why I've said Dems need to let a critical infrastructure cyber security bill and campaign finance reform bill be two major priorities going forward. That way you can still bitch about Russia, but you actually have concrete proposals to mitigate it happening again. Bonus points because campaign finance should be a Dem priority anyways.

it's incredibly naive to assume we aren't doing the same thing. we do it in our own country.

if you guys are so concerned about our "sovereignty", why weren't you up in arms about the actual disenfranchisement that happened in the primaries?

Not intimating you are saying I did but for the record I have never once used the term "hacked the election." That said, I do think an attempt to influence an election via any means is an attack on our sovereignty to a degree just as our misguided past efforts to influence others was.

Hackers (also likely Russia) absolutely did dabble in voter registration roles however as well. If I thought this was ONLY about John Podesta being an idiot and falling for a phish that a toddler could have seen coming we wouldn't be having this conversation obviously.
