New to this like him, but assume the basis for the question was maybe a belief that the S&P has some run up ahead of it, but moreso based on the hope that he can catch a small cap high growth stock and get 2-3x plus returns vs buying fractional shares of an established blue chip like GOOGL or AMZN or BRK or whatever. Which, if one could predict that they would be rich AF but no harm in asking the question imo.

While I think it’s foolish in general, one rationalization could be that companies with lower stock prices are at an earlier part in their growth curve and that ones with higher stock prices are later in their growth curve and will remain more stagnant.

I don’t agree with this analysis but I can understand why people would take that approach.

6-9: Walter - It's going to $25+ by month's end due to their imminent COVID-19 - INO:$12.76

6-16: Walter - INO animal challenge and Phase I human trial results due to be released by end of month - INO: $13.90

Don't know how you could have so much faith in a company to buy in at $2-$4 levels and not want to sell until it hits $50.

There is no other infuriating stock out there than SGMO. They rarely go up, and have greater losses when they release positive news. I have a small stake because I think their technology could be transformative. But their executive group is a train wreck.

today is a great example. They released positive data on their PI/II hemophilia study, but somehow they are down 12% on the day. Makes no sense.

6-30: Walter - INO jumps into the lead of the vaccine race after their COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine candidate shows very strong immune responses just as their MERS coronavirus vaccine has (which uses the exact same design) - INO: $25

Do your due diligence. Biotech is hard and most of the trials are failures. I am not saying INO will be a bust, but to provide some perspective to the pump a couple posts up:

Quote :
"Inovio hopes to start a phase 2/3 efficacy trial in July, Kim added, which would generate long-term efficacy data on INO-4800 in about a year. "
Behind early vaccine leaders, Moderna and Oxford (A-Z), who are expecting to have approval as early as September. I would expect INO would be granted fast track status if they see early positive results in their PIII study.

Quote :
"So why is doubt swirling around Inovio’s COVID-19 vaccine effort? Critics often point out that the company is 40 years old and has so far failed to get a DNA vaccine—or any product—approved. And before the pandemic, it was struggling: One year ago, AstraZeneca pared down a research partnership with Inovio; a couple of months after that, Inovio slashed a bladder cancer development program along with 28% of its staff."
The MERS platform certainly gives INO a competitive advantage over other firms racing for a vaccine, and they are still one of the early leaders, but their mismanagement of past vaccines is concerning.

Better yet, if you have any senile grandparents, convince them that you're in a bind and get them to transfer their life savings over to you...then use that to buy. What's the worst that could happen?

That's a pretty bad blunder, and one that's pretty easy to mitigate. But depending on the scope of the miss-dose, it's not going to impact the trial or program, especially if they are still enrolling subjects. The article doesn't indicate the amount of subjects miss-dosed.

My favorite crypto 2017 story involved people I'd told to buy BTC in 2015 who were asking if they should cash out their 401k to go all in on shitcoin.

No, is the answer, you missed the boat.

^^Because it is still in clinical testing...they just wrapped up Phase 1/2 trials this quarter with others already scheduled this year. Also, there are no large active MERS outbreaks at the moment. No pandemic = no test subjects and no monetary incentive to blaze towards approval (which costs $$$$). They will continue as long as they continue to receive grants/funding from CEPI, etc.

The Dept of Defense ordered $16,000,000 of INO's proprietary DNA vaccine delivery device...INO has worked closely with DARPA over the past couple of years, receiving funding for their Zika vaccine trials.

It is ramping up in anticipation of the results. As I've pointed out previously, it is being HEAVILY shorted (I think around 1/3 of the volume over the past several months has been short positions), so there's going to be an epic short squeeze when this takes off. All of those short selling clowns what were coordinating the bogus shareholder lawsuits are going to get caught with their pants around their ankles.

Correction: They actually received $71 million from DoD, just for the delivery device. Truckloads of money are coming for actual vaccine manufacturing after P1 results.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/inovio-receives-71-million-contract-113000799.html

Another yuge run coming today.

Almost grazed $23 with no P1 results. Just wait until those drop plus the hundreds of millions in additional funding from CEPI and Warp Speed that are coming. The DoD didn’t order $16mil worth of INO’s delivery devices plus another $71mil to support manufacturing for their next-gen model, with no plans on big funding for vaccine manufacturing.
