I have my 2nd dose on Friday.

If I am not alive in 2 weeks from Friday, my crypto wallet keys will auto-post here.

First come first serve.

Good luck.

Congratulations in advance to whoever gets in first.

Pfizer-BioNTech COMIRNATY®

Got my second one back in April. Work is requiring it now and have to prove it or else. Wonder if they will make us get boosters as well when that day comes?

Has anyone gotten a booster yet?

I'm still remote, so I'm not even worried about it, but I've heard from some people that it's unpleasant AF.

Dad (immuno compromised) and wife (nurse) have gotten it. No different symptoms than the other shots for them. In fact, probably less of a reaction for my wife than the first shot.

I got my Pfizer boost. I'm now expected to work daily in an open office area with no vaccine mandate, and some people in my immediate vicinity have announced their non-vaccinated status. To me, this was sufficient to justify a booster based on occupational risks.

I have a buddy who's wife works on the vaccine trials. Says a bunch of red flags with shitty control groups and terrible data with the company still forcing them to get vaxed and boosters. Says it's pretty telling when the people actually interpreting the data are hesitant to get it. I have the shot, but people forcing it down other people's throats when they don't have much of an idea what's going on behind the scenes is pretty wild.

Let me just say I work closely with the Faculty at the pharmacy school and the vaccination rate among them is like 99.5%. These people have spent their professional lives learning about medication, vaccinations and continue to study and research them to this day. We have a couple of kooky right-wingers in the group and as far as I'm aware even they got vaccinated and haven't espoused any of the vaccine conspiracy theories (and one of them has popped off about other stupid shit in the past). So if there was vaccine hesitancy amongst any group due to some grand conspiracy by "Big Pharma" or the Government I think it would be them. I've not heard a single person say anything questionable about it either professionally or just in private conversations so I've had no personal hesitancy about getting vaccinated.

Wife got her third Pfizer shot last Friday and did just fine. They were out so I couldn't get mine at the time and I'm just over six months since my second shot anyways.

I imagine the Pfizer, Moderna and J&J vaccine vials rolling down a conveyor belt, and his buddy's wife looks them over, and every now and then she tosses one to the side for lookin funny.

The bottom line is the virus kills a lot more people than the vaccine

I'm TUFF ENUFF to survive covid, but that tiny little shot might kill me

This is the sort of comment that bothers me in anecdotal evidence

Quote :

I'm sure there are plenty of janitors who work at the company but I'm not sure I'd take their word on vaccine safety. It matters what she does there and what the nature of the role the reviewers she has spoken to play.

Example, I have two friends, who both went to state, and work at INC. One studied nutrition and the other business, neither are strong in science. Their job is to review trial contracts and metrics met. Despite reviewing particular aspects of trials, I would not consider either credible sources on general efficacy.

I'm also doubting his friend has an accurate survey of vaccinated rates for those are responsible for the science and is probably speaking to likeminded individuals, which would likely have much sample and confirmation bias.

My friend is not some Qanon antivaxer. He and his wife do not have bias, they are just sensible. "Tons of red flags" was a direct quote from her.

^ and ^^ these guys get it.

Believing or not believing in Qanon isn't the only criteria required when gauging the validity of her direct "Tons of red flags" quote. But I'm sure you know that.

I also believe if she had a PhD in biomathematics or virology or was even a medical doctor, who by the way doesn't have all the scientific knowledge required to understand manufacturing of vaccines, I think you'd mention it. But, no, she's just a person who happens to work at a company who does stuff.

That's like saying my buddy who is a programmer at Apple stating that the M1 chip is the worst chip of all time makes it definitively true. It doesn't because he lacks the qualifications and data to make that claim, despite loosely organized credentials that may convince non-critical thinkers otherwise.

She is a Clinical Trial Manager at a company in Raleigh

An example of one of the red flags she discussed.

Two Control Groups
One Gets Vax the other gets placebo
However many in the placebo group ended up getting the vax
Therefore there is no long term data.
The data was still published

^I'm far from an expert on this, but I really don't see how "no long term data" is in any way damning in this case:

Given the very public rush to get these vaccines available, having "no long term data" is already common and obvious knowledge. Sure, it's nice to have long term data, but having that available at this point is a physical impossibility.

So when something shows outstanding clinical promise, you want to long-term disfurnish the placebo group of a potentially life-saving treatment in return for their participation in important medical research? Do you think perhaps the FDA and CDC are better-suited to adequately review clinical trials including any suggestions of impropriety?

We have a huge swath of the country acting as a placebo group. A not insignificant number of them are dead now.

There is a mountain of evidence that the vaccines are largely safe and effective. Why do people choose to focus on some technicality that some acquaintance's acquaintance heard someone talk about?

So you're saying that the people running the trials gave the placebo group the vaccine by accident? Like switch up the viles or something?

I get how one could interpret the data that way, but isn't consequential here. If safety is the issue, what you're looking for is cause and effect between those who got the vaccine and health issues.

If no one in either group is seeing health issues, then the conclusion is still that it's safe in the long term. If both groups were to have health issues, then you'd need further investigation because they now share a core commonality. However, you'd still be able to look at the time of onset of the health issues to connect between those who had the vaccine at T0 and those who had it at T+9months.

Both groups sharing vaccination status also still allows for evaluating antibodies that remain over time. You know who had vaccines at T0 and those who had it at T+n, and can track antibodies accordingly.

Seems more like there is data she doesn't understand rather than red flags.

Oh and IIRC a clinical trial manager is more of a project manager than anyone with any scientific or statistical knowledge. It'd be like saying project managers at software companies have strong technical understandings of the projects they oversee, which I'm sure many here know firsthand that they do not.

A small percentage or people from both groups had health issues.

People from the placebo group went out and got the vaccine from a different source. Not knowing which group they were in, some did not want to take chances due to the effects of the virus.

I am not pushing an agenda. My only point here is that Pfizer has a history of being an ethically fucked up company and people have a right to be hesitant to trust them.

The people claiming to be so concerned with potential long term effects of the vaccines strangely do not seem at all concerned with any long term (or short term) effects of actually contracting Covid.

Yes, we're all aware of the fact that Pfizer, and to an even greater extent J&J, are big bad Pharma companies and we should be rightfully suspicious, but even the most cursory glance at the data we can see that:

A) the vaccines DO work at preventing serious illness/death
B) the vaccines DO NOT cause health problems for nearly everyone who's taken them
