Being .500 against both UNC and Duke, much less beating them regularly, is not a fair request of whoever our new coach is. I don't believe even the top coaches in the nation would realistically be able to go .500 against UNC/DUke. So in that sense it's best to temper those kind of outrageous expectations, because they're unreasonable.

Tubby: 2
Lowe: 19

Sorry for mentioning that he took the defending national champs to overtime. It wasn't very impressive.

Just to put something in perspective, it's probably about 10 times more likely that Lowe comes back than we hire Donovan.

Anybody know what the buy out would be for Lowe's last year? It can't be much.

^ that's probably true

^^^^I kind of agree.

I think we'd be much more optimistic if this was Lowe's 3rd season and he had these players...but its his 5th year and still, as a program, we are in the same place we were after his first season (only now, we are even further removed from the "glory days"). It would surely hurt recruiting too...opposing coaches using the fact that Lowe is a dead man walking and could be fired at any time to sway recruits (I'm sure its already being done). If we start out sluggish next year things could get ugly...fans booing, terrible attendance. Things are pretty bad right now...it will be worse if Lowe comes back.

I think it's just in the best interest of Lowe, the program, the fan base, and everyone else that we go ahead and part ways after this season. I think we all hope that Lowe succeeds, but at this point it appears that is very unlikely...Although I'm sure firing the starting point guard from one of your National Championship teams is no easy task

counting an overtime loss as a win isn't exactly helping your case

(which was a very weak one to begin with)

I'll go 99% that Lowe is gone at the end of this year, but no higher than that, Tone.

^^^I dunno...I just think given that this is DY's first year and Lowe only has 1 year left on his contract that it's possible that she let's him ride it out

It being Yow's first year has nothing to do with this. She's already fired that soccer coach in her first year.

the Jeopardy computer would routinely beat the shit out of UNC and Duke, but would occasionally slip up and lose to Wake Forest by 90 points

look, the nc state wolfpack arent like duke or kentucky or a nba team. they need to stand out w a GAME CHANGER. something new and different. maybe have try outs. let a couple guys try coaching a game against a weak team. try a few like that. sometimes companies hire a guy who might not be from that company but is known as a innovator and a good business leader. why not think like that and hire someone with a new perspective on the sport? another coach from another sport? what about trying a big time nc name like michel jordan?

He suggested we go out and get Micheal Jordan to be the coach of NC State university men's basketball. It's so stupid that it can't be a real, authentic thought (even for an incredibly stupid person)... perhaps that's where he went wrong.
