^^how'd you rotate the tires? Did you switch to a nonstaggered tire set up?
I have excessive wear on the insides of my front tires. They're just about bald on the inside. I've had the alignment checked and nothing is amiss. 1/19/2010 10:33:36 AM |

i swear the k20a drives better below 4000rpm when compared to the F22C. i switch cars with a friend occasionally and its very noticeable. some of it may be due to the DBW resulting in a better factory tune. does adjustable cam tuning play a large role? i feel like the stock s2000 air/fuel/timing is fairly poor down low. engine bogs at 2500rpm? come on. 1/21/2010 2:17:55 PM |

^^ A lot prettier than my pic of the same 2 cars (Ignore me and my sister in the middle, we're all sunburnt from an AutoX we'd just gotten back from )
I got to drive my S2000 and this Elise on some back roads back to back, and I was actually impressed with how well the S2000 held up...heavier, bigger, more plush, etc...but handling was not that different, considering the huge price gap. I love the Elise, but I'm surprised anyone ever upgrades directly from S2000 to Elise. Seems like you'd at least want to go S2000 => Exige or something 4/20/2010 10:03:52 AM |

^ Yeah, some guys at NCSU got her interested in Autocross (I graduated the year before she started), and her car was parentally owned and they weren't too happy about her AutoXing it, plus it was an automatic Civic, not exactly fun to Autocross.
So her next birthday rolled around, and for her birthday I let her Autocross the S2000 and paid her entry fee and all that. It turned out to be really fun to have my little sister as my co-driver We only had that one chance, but I'd love to do it again.
(I taught her to drive stick in my Civic and later the S2000, but she hadn't driven a stick for 4-5 months before the Autocross...made it extra fun hahah) 4/20/2010 3:19:10 PM |

Sorry to dig this up from the grave, but, is a MY2000 honda s2000 w/ 32k for 12,750 a good deal? The car has 2 owners, clean carfax, no accidents, very clean, completely stock, etc. 7/8/2010 10:18:56 PM |

While I hate red cars, and don't like the idea of a MY2000 for basically 13k, it's a really low mileage and low cost way into an s2000. 7/8/2010 10:26:56 PM |

^I say go for it based on the information stated in this thread. The lack of torque down low shouldn't bother you that much if this won't be your DD. That's a good price. 7/9/2010 10:49:14 AM |

Quinn and myself both need to reshod our S2000s. We're thinking about getting the same tire, the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec.
225/45ZR17 90W 200AA front 255/40ZR17 94W 200AA rear
Looks like $650 shipped from tire rack.
Would you fellas suggest anything else instead of these? For the price their performance seems unmatched and to top it it looks like another $150-200 needs to be spent. 7/16/2010 11:06:57 AM |
Jek All American 709 Posts user info edit post |
^ Is this primarily to beat the price of the original tires, or are they actually better performance wise?
It's time to replace my tires as well, and I keep wondering if there's something better than the OEM tires out there now that it's been 10 years. I'm AP1 R16 though, I'm assuming you two are AP2 since you're talking about R17. 7/16/2010 12:19:26 PM |
TKE-Teg All American 43409 Posts user info edit post |
^yeah we're both AP2 with the OEM 17" wheels. 2004 and 2007 models.
The OEM spec Bridgestones are almost $200 more. And their performance can't match the Dunlops (which came out just last year).
If it was money no option I'd go for the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11s but those are $200-250 more than the Dunlops
Only thing I'm concerned about with the Dunlops is treadlife. If I were you I'd check out the Dunlops.

On a side note, here are some photos of the LS3 S2000 in the video clip above...but now all finished.
He claims the car's weight is 2910lbs with him in it, with a 50/50 weight distribution.
Going on sale on eBay in a short time...starting at $25k. I believe the chassis is MY00. 7/16/2010 1:35:16 PM |

Quote : | " Honda Contemplates a CR-Z Convertible
We have reported about the possibility of an S2000 successor for many months, and now we’re hearing reports that it may indeed happen, but not in the way we previously imagined. Our sources in Tokyo have told us that Honda is putting a priority on adding a sports car in its lineup; the execs feel that a sports car is a necessity to uphold its brand image. While there have been many debates and arguments within the walls of Honda HQ’s Aoyama-based offices buildings about the details of the car, many believe that the best first step may be to use the CR-Z hybrid car’s platform. Despite its front-drive layout, performance will be increased via a stronger engine and lighter weight. If such a car can be created, it would go up against the likes of the Mazda MX-5. After this car is established, then Honda would move on to create a rear-drive high-powered sports car, probably with a hybrid powerplant. We’ll keep you up to date as news develops." |
I think I'm gonna write a letter to Honda. It'll probably go something like this: "hey Honda.....Fuuuuuuuuuck Youuuuuuuuuu!"

Anything related to the CR-Z will fail. Just like the current Insight has failed. The CR-Z has nothing to offer. It's not good at anything, and I can't see a convertible being any better.
This potential hybrid rear-drive car will most likely be underpowered. 9/25/2010 5:31:54 PM |
