i think the email was fine EXCEPT for the bridezilla/bitch comment. i was feeling the tone of the email until that comment, then it was over.

anyway, im kind of glad my parents can't afford to pay for my wedding... that means i can do whatever i want. because it is true, whoever is contributing $$ does have some say!

that was in reference to a conversation we had a few weeks ago when she just discovered that they actually make bitch cards and she thought it was hilarious.

I've been on the same wedge hunt for literally WEEKS going on months.
Everything is either too casual or WAAAAY too high.

Have you posted your dress? I don't have time to look through right now...
However, today in Dillards @ Cary Towne I saw some interesting lower cork wedge options.
They don't match my dresses, but they might work for you!!
They are located in the women's accessories section instead of with the shoes--
I believe there were 4 options-- I only remember 3:
black simple yet stylish flip flop, black w/ silver rhinestone type accents, gold w/ yellow rhinestone type accents (all had a cork wedge)
Brand Name: Soho Soles
The website on the shoes was slippers.com, but according to sohoshoe.com it is not yet available.
Also couldn't find anything on the Dillards website.
The most similar pictures I could find are here:
http://alturl.com/qif8

Otherwise, good luck!

mom found these for the bridesmaids
http://www.lorisshoes.com/product.asp?pfid=LDS09306

we really like the natural look, and like i said before we're looking for a cork wedge type shoe. mom's not really wild about the platform-ness and i don't think shari is either (ash hasn't responded yet). they're kinda more expensive than i would like also.

i'd like to stick with the natural look but so far we haven't found anything else. ideas?

A quick search of zappos for "cork" and "beige" led to these. Some are cheaper, some are more expensive than the ones you just posted. There were a ton, the first two just seemed to look close to what you've already posted. The last two are very expensive. But I can't help liking the heel more than the wedge, and I think they're cute. Probably nothing close to what you would buy though!

I'm a little bored, so I'm going to add on some more that I found that are on the cheaper side:

yeah we've seen those. the 2nd one would be great if it didn't have that metal thing on it. there have been more, better options w/ heels, but we'll be outside on grass and we can't have people, esp pregnant people, aerating the yard and breaking ankles.

i got my hostesses a hand made candle, cocktail napkins and wrote a nice note. i had a lot of women cohosting, so i couldn't spend a lot. total was a little less than $20 with the gift bag, tissue and raffi. if i just had one or two, i would've done more like a bottle of wine, lotions, etc or something more personal that i knew they would like.

we also had a co-ed shower, so i got the guys that cohosted a 750ml lager from total wine.

Just to let everyone know the North Carolina Museum of History is having a Bridal Expo tonight (April 16th) from 6-9pm. There are going to be a number of different vendors (caterers, photographers, cakes, etc). I believe the cost is only $5 and they are also raffling off $1500 to go towards your rental fee of the museum, which would pay for most, if not all of the rental fee!

Ha, I just checked back in on this thread for the first time since I last posted, but we have checked out All Saints and are going with them--we really love it, and it's a great space for the price and location.

Our decision making process has been made significantly easier by my girlfriend's mom calling up this week and telling us she's decided to give us $$$ to pay for the wedding. WHAT'S UP, FREE MONEY!

^ hah, I read your mind then

se7entythree, why not just let the bridemaids pick their own shoes? Just give them a guideline for what you basically want (beige and cork) and then let them choose their own based on their budget/personal style.

well there's only 3, one being my mom, and although they all said the price wasnt a problem, the pregnant one was a little concerned about stability. she says she's a little more stable in a wedge tho so i dunno. oh and the guys will all have the same shoes, so i think it's important that the girls do too. i'll be barefoot

im going to triangle town ctr on saturday and i'll look around there

I'm going cake testing tomorrow. Should be a good time. basically just eating a bunch of different cakes with a bunch of different icings at a few different places.

Seems like the best deal on wedding cake is like $4.00 per person. Seems like a whole lot of money to me but whatever. I think I will try negotiating a little bit. what are your experiences with this?

$4 was the highest price/slice that we saw when shopping around - how many slices/tiers are you planning on having

from what i remember the average for the summer of 2007 was 3-3.50 in raleigh

120-130 people.

We're searching in Charlotte since that's where the wedding is. Most places were like $4.25 per slice all the way up to $4.75.

^^Ours started at $4 a slice too, but we got a 10% off deal by paying in full, and they threw in free delivery. So, we actually came out less than $400 for a 100 person cake.

^^ omg that is so cool. i feel like i heard about that somewhere before, but totally forgot about it. i have a dress i could probably sell on there, but i'm hanging onto it because i don't like the style of it anymore but IF i ever get married, there's plenty of fabric that surely someone could do something with. or i just might wear my mom's dress. and i don't want to wear shoes so there's 2 things that save some $$$ haha.

P.S.i don't know if anyone else has noticed this or maybe i am just bigger than i thought (haha) but i feel like a lot of wedding dresses run really really small.

V i'm not crazy and i don't go around randomly trying on wedding dresses i did the whole deb thing (yea really sweet, right) and so my dress was a wedding dress. but i tried on a family friend's wedding dress and it was a size 2 and i'm pretty small but that shit was tiny. i guess she had gotten it altered. or i'm apparently not a size 2.

bridal sizes are based on the WWII measurements...so they don't run small, it's just the old way of doing things. i wear a size 8 by today's measurements, but my wedding dress is a size 12.

^Exactly. I'm a 00 in most stores, and weigh 102lbs, but my size 2 wedding dress fits like a glove.

The average dress size for Brides today is a 16.

Why is it only good for 60 days? Is it before it's signed (do you sign it at the wedding?) What is the point of a wedding license anyways? Proof? Help to get the woman's last name and all that crap changed?

That whole thing just confuses me... haha

it's valid from 60 days after you receive it - which means you have to get married within 60 days of receiving it and have it signed

it's what legally weds you - for taxes and the such - a marriage license makes it very easy for a women to have her name changed as well

They have personalized napkins and ribbon on theknot.com
I think the napkins are still on sale right now.
The personal pictures in the reviews make them look pretty good. I just haven't decided whether it's worth the extra dough yet.
I've been recommended Oriental Trading multiple times... although I'm hesitant to use them because I've always thought their stuff looked & felt VERY cheap.

wedding isn't until October but I am having trouble thinking of groomsmen gifts. My 4 groomsmen are the other 4 members of my band. We're all very close and been doing this band for coming up on 6 years now and so it seems appropriate to tie that in somehow but I haven't figured out how.

I wonder, since that lady does custom ones if you give her a design, if it would be stupid/too tacky for the guys to use our logo or something. Our main logo/most recent logo for the past few years has been a black, white, and purple and those happen to be the colors our tuxes are going to be (Prob black pants and jacket with some sort of dark purple vest and white shirts).

I mean, we would never wear any of our own merchandise or something so thats what makes it seem tacky. But for cuff links the colors match and theyre all members
