I forget if it was mentioned before, but how much was this project going to be?

Also, I've never seen an extension cord like that before (all coiled up). What function does that serve?

i still have no idea how i knotted that bitch up that bad, and the garage is costing less than the 30,000 dollar quote we were quoted before. i'll just put it that way.

haha... I think I've seen something similar on a construction site, but never knew it's purpose.

Garage looks like it's coming along well. Keep us updated. I assume you plan to use some kind of wood siding for the exterior?

it condenses the cord's length so that it is less likely to get full of knots. All it is is a loop at one end and you pull another loop through the loop, and so on until you get to the other end and then just tie it off. Once it is all done up, you should be able to take the end you finished with and untie it and pull and all the loops will pull out into a straight cord. But if you screw up and go from the wrong end or get off by a loop it makes a huge mess of knots and you have to go through it and take each one out.

It's kind of the same idea as the dog food bags where if you pull the right string, it all just pulls right out.

[Edited on October 19, 2006 at 10:53 AM. Reason : it is a lot faster than coiling it and less likely to get knots]

wouldn't it be easier to have it on a spool of some sort?

spools cost money.

and most spools don't hold really long extension cords. I have always used that trick for the longer cords instead or wrapping them around your arm and stuff because, as mentioned, they are so much easier to get undone if you put them away right.

but spools take time to wind up and unwind.

this is real fast to do up . . . just reach through the loop and pull another one out to store it and just pull on the end to unravel it.

it will be centered once the roof is on. there is a 4 foot overhang over the apron of the garage. it will look like it should.

Very few full height lifts would fit with 11' cielings. Most require around 12'1"-12'4".

even then you wont have shit for room under a fullsize truck/suv unless you are 5ft tall. and then your arms aint long enough...
