Fat Matt's is the hotness. except their sides suck.

The closest thing to NC style BBQ i've found is Dusty's.

yeah - but aparently hoe downs now does really bad drag shows

i dont know....my friend tim was bitching about it the other day...i didnt quite understand if that's all hoe downs did, or if that was only on certain nights

you could go to maddys in decatur, also go bbq and i believe they usually have live bands on thursday nights. twains afterwards could be fun as well

I enjoy CJ's...the owner is buds with some friends from b-school, so we did a lot of partying there...any place with tables built for Beirut gets the thumbs up from me!

hoe down's never had drag, but last time I was there was probably over 2 years ago...there were some serious line dancing mofos there on thursday nights

is anything going on this weekend - i'm down here by myself fixing things around the place - my only plan is to go see my old house i lived in when i was 5 over by stone mountain and i've heard to keep the doors locked and windows up

Appetite For Destruction is at East Andrews this Saturday - great G'n'R cover band
Slipper When Wet is at Peachtree Tavern this Saturday - great Bon Jovi cover band

I was actually bummed to hear they were both on the night of the AC concert. But they are around a lot anyway.

aight, I may be able to get Friday or at least part of Friday off, but not sure yet. Normally it wouldnt be a problem but my boss has been out for the last week and a half and will be out the rest of May except for Friday and most of June so I might have to meet with her on Friday.

If I can get off Friday I would say go during the day on Friday, if not, sometime early Saturday or around noon on Sunday, that place is packed on the weekends

^^ I got 4 tickets (me, you, Johnny, Heime), came out to $16 each with the bullshit service and facility charges, we'll pick them up at will call, show starts at 9pm. Best bet would probably be to pre-drink at my place then catch a cab, splitting it 4 ways. I will look into parking there and see if its reasonable

just got my license today and going to do the registration deal tomorrow or thursday - i have to pay sales tax on the fair market value of my car right? it looks like it's actually a somewhat difficult/involved process to get my car changed over to GA unfortunately - i have to have liability insurance in 2 states until NC receives my tags back too it sounds like

dzandrea - is jim n nick's bbq any good - seems like there's always a lot of cars there

Yeah that's why I tried it - but I didn't think it was that great. Rather overpriced and mediocre, save their cheddar biscuits. I'll take Sonny's anyday.

i've looked at that site as well as the official GA one - it looks like you will have to pay sales tax on the car from everything i've read

as far as insurance the way i understand it is that if you get your new GA tags and cancel your NC insurance before they get your old tags back then they fine you for not having NC liability insurance - you have to mail them in...otherwise how would they know you don't want to keep your car registered there i believe

i would stick to the official dmv site as opposed to some 3rd party site

to get the georgia tags you have to have proof of insurance in georgia. so i called my insurance company and switched it over, then went to the county office to get the license plate. i think you can set it up for overlap of coverage in the 2 states for a day or something. i never sent anything back to north carolina either....

anyways, i'm going to sweetwater after work, that place is totally crucial

^ how long ago did you do that? it looks like the sales tax deal is new as of 2006

i just called the NC dmv and they said you don't have to have insurance until the time they receive your tags that you mail back in - but if you don't...if you get your NC license/registration back at any time then you will have a fine you have to pay - sounds safer to pay a few extra days of NC liability insurance

hmmm...i registered mine in 2005 in georgia. i believe all i paid was like, that ad valoreum (sp?) tax, and no sales tax....

yeah, I think the sales tax is only if you live in Georgia, go to another state to buy a car, then bring it back. I dont think it applies if you bring a car with you when you originally move...

and I dont get the insurance deal... I just switched my info over to Georgia but my insurance is still more than what NC or Georgia requires so why would it matter if my car was registered in NC or not. Seems like as long as my new insurance still covers what is required in NC then it wouldnt matter if I actually lived there or not

^ and Sweetwater Blue is amazing

you still have to pay Ad-valorem taxes to get your car titled and tagged down here...pretty sure it's a yearly tax

gg having extra taxes and shitty schools GA

just got done doing the whole deal - you are right on the sales tax - i only paid $38 total and i'm set until july '08 - because it's close to when my birthday is in july i think i don't have to pay the ad valorem tax until next year - NC requires you to have liability insurance as long as they don't have the tags in their possession - it's a stupid law for people moving but generally it only costs you a few $$ to keep you liability insurance a few days extra while you mail the tag in

it looks like your NC record does not follow you to GA either - unless mine just hasn't caught up yet...
