not gonna lie, when i saw you say "keep your stops tight" pages ago, i knew what it meant but didn't know there was an actual method to it based on support and resistance. Looking it up opened up a whole new world where I ended up diving down the rabbit hole.

This strategy works with mutual funds or at least their ETF equivalents. It's very easy to make money in a rising market. The danger is that when it works, you think it is because you are smart and that you have developed a system that works better than everyone else. You don't know anything the market doesn't know (unless you are engaging in illegal insider trading). Also consider the tax hurdles you have to overcome with short term capital gains.

Anyway, I understand what this thread is about, and I'm not really trying to evangelize for my chosen slow and steady boring approach, but rather to offer confirmation to the previously quoted poster that no one knows what is going on, and that focusing on savings rate and owning the whole market for the long term is the safest proven strategy to date. If you want to play around with some fun money, go for it, but I don't personally find it fun to agonize about daily and intraday price movements.

I'm with ^. I'd also say that don't get greedy means you have to predict near when a pullback will happen, so when you exit that you don't leave too much on the table but don't lose a lot by staying in too long. You also have to accurately do this with regularity for it to have a positive effect on the cash flow.

Some might be okay investing the time in there to get this right a few times, but that isn't me either. Dollar cost averaging of investments within the Mean Sharpe Ratio is where it is at for me.

All of the indicators were trending towards a Trump win but a Biden win was already built into the market. This was enough to overcome the enormous downward pull from the COVID resurgence.

Likelihood of a Biden presidency with a GOP controlled senate that will prevent any big changes to tax code.

Yeah I've got 10 shares. My intent was to just dabble in a very small position, but I think I've made 3-4x on it so far, so that now it's big enough to be at least meaningful (to me, anyway).

Part of me says "this valuation is crazy, take the money and run."

Another part of me says "Remember when you did that after a 10x return on the NFLX you bought at ~$7, only for it to return another >10x after that? How about all of these places starting to ban ICE cars in the next 5-10 years? What about their getting closer to FSD? What about an expected Biden push on the climate change agenda?"

I know a lot of that is probably priced in...but I held off on TSLA for waaaaay too long, then didn't buy enough. So far I've been nowhere near bullish enough on it.

Very good points

I'm just wondering how much longer their competitive advantage will be in place. Automakers investing tons in their space finally.

^^ right, that's a concern.

On the other hand, TSLA has a big lead already, and would probably realize some benefit as EVs (and for that matter, self-driving capability) go from being niche to the norm--which isn't a transition they can make on their own (in terms of the consumer psyche, or in terms of charging infrastructure, or in terms of lobbying Congress/gov agencies for favorable legislation/regulation.

They also have a solar business that is really growing, and appears to be best-in-class.

This has been an incredible run. Back in August I was having big tesla fomo so I bought NIO, Li, and Xpeng. I sold about half of all of them on a little dip a few weeks into it but the rest has really paid off.

I've been learning on the fly all year, made some terrible mistakes and am still up 75% on blind luck.

CRWD has been good to me. PTON as well, though it took a hit on the initial vaccine news and is slowly climbing back up.

What about INO and AZN? I'm buying call options on the idea that they will eventually get something out and there will still be scarcity in the spring and early summer.

^^ run up to being included in the S&P. There was expectation for there to be a dip afterward, which there was, but it was only temporary.

Still up almost 15% since I bought in.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/penny-stock-zomedica-jumps-250-after-someone-paid-netflix-star-carole-baskin-299-for-a-mention-225328904.html

"Little known Michigan-based animal health and veterinarian penny stock Zomedica surged nearly 250% since earning a mention from Netflix’s “Tiger King” star Carole Baskin last week. In a video re-posted to YouTube, Baskin delivers a glowing review for the company, saying "I don't know if you guys have heard about Zomedica, but they help our veterinarians and our furry friends” and that she is “definitely invested in finding out more” about the company."

I haven’t checked that sub in a while but I wish I had. I’ve been playing around with penny stocks a bunch and check /robinhoodpennystocks most days. I check stocktwits often, too. It’s kind of exhausting trying to keep up with everything and figure out entries and exits though.

Actually my fiance stumbled upon ZOM.

She was new to trading and put in a few grizzles on RobinHood.

She works in that industry and was doing DD on companies, stumbled across them.

IDEX and JAGX were two others she's picked.
