Where the fuck did all the wood come from to build Euron's ships? Because it sure as fuck wasn't the Iron Islands.

if its apparently that easy and fast to build a fleet, why doesn't everyone build a giant fleet?

Okay this is what I thought to begin with but in the episode last night I thought they said fire could kill the 'whites' meaning the white walkers but they were referring to the wights(zombies). So I was right to begin with.

^^,^^^

yeah that is one major point I am choosing to have to just ignore not scrutinize to enjoy this season. The timeline and resources etc. seem so far fetched it's almost not even worth me getting too upset over it at this point haha.

I know the book is more reasonable, but I'm pretty sure they built a lot of ships pretty fast as well. Anyone remember exactly how that happened? Or maybe I'm off...it's been so long.

It's been a long time since I read that book......but didn't he & his brother already have quite a fleet built up? Again...been a long time & I'm not consulting the wiki at this moment...so I may be completely wrong. Also, forgive me if we aren't allowed to talk about that here. I know we (the collective "we") have had many arguments about it.

Completely agree! Luckily the plot is moving along & interesting things are happening.....though just not to people who are particularly interesting (anymore)

Euron in the episode where Theon and his sister take off, asks everyone of the Iron Islands crowd to find all the wood in their area and build as many ships as they can as quickly as they can...so that explains how and why the fleet was so abundant.

Quote :
"Go back to your homes. Chop down every tree you can find. Quarter-saw the timber and start building. I want every woman spinning flax for sails. Build me a thousand ships and I will give you this World."

^^ right but didn't Yara steal all of their existing ships? or am i getting that wrong from last season. I didn't re-watch, it wasn't in the books, and it's been a while

^ oh yeah I remember that clearly. I don't think anyone is arguing that. But even when he said that last season I was skeptical of how much and how quickly they can build. The iron islands are rocky, craggy, and not abundant with trees and i dont remember what their population is currently in terms of manpower to start a fleet from scratch again. Just because he requested it, doesn't mean it's logical that they were able to build such a massive fleet so quickly.

That explanation works...if Euron is Jesus and "willed" it to happen. But he's not. The Iron Islands don't have many trees (and if they ever did they'd be gone now after centuries of building ships with that wood).

I love the show but this plot line is very sloppy.

I have no idea what it takes to build one of those ships -- so let's say he did have all of the resources and manpower. How long would it take to build that fleet?

I guess I'm wondering would it be possible for him and his people to travel to some remote part of the continent that is heavily wooded and bunker down there building their shit for a while without drawing much attention?

Yara and Theon did steal a lot of his initial fleet (he says in the show they "stole my best ships"). Ironmen get resources from raiding (reaving) the shoreline areas. There's plenty of forest in the north for them to take from too but I do agree it's a bit far-fetched to just up and build 1000 ships. Why didn't they do that before if they were able? Where did they get the men to crew them, food to feed them, etc.? I guess from Euron's riches he got when he was gone?

While I agree it's still a little far fetched, and they don't make it super clear in the series, there are definitely many months and months between certain events. At the end of last season we saw Varys go straight from Sunspear to appearing on Danny's ship, and there was much confusion I saw online, but there are implicit time jumps you just have to factor in your head when they cut to a different scene in a completely different part of the world (still, yea, building that kind of fleet is pushing it)

Hints dropped in the opening credits that the white walkers will walk around the wall when the water freezes? Plus when the Hound was looking in the fire he said “It’s where The Wall meets the sea. There’s a castle there. There’s a mountain, looks like an arrowhead. The dead are marching past. Thousands of them.”

Can the faceless men assume the face of an animal?

I think so and I think what we saw as Nymeria may have been a faceless man impersonating her coming to take Arya's face. Arya realized this saying "That's not you" and passed her final test to be a faceless man. That's when Nymeria/Jaqen left her be.

Looking forward to next week.

^^I was actually thinking something similar. Back in episode 5 last season, Jaquen mentions the ability to "assume the face of any living creature."

Arya never finishes her faceless man quests, so its plausible that Jaquen followed her, assuming the face of a Nymeria to hunt her down. But when Arya recognizes him, he backs down, she has passed the final test, and she is now a faceless girl, officially.

The Faceless men will probably now fight along Arya against the Lannisters?

^^^ I would be careful believing everything the creators say in the vignette's afterward the show. They have said before that they try to throw viewers off the scent. Could be red herring.

Faceless Men and Arya fighting along side together seems plausible. Just imagine later in the series when Cersei has Tyrion. She tells the mountain to execute him but then *poof* its Arya. So Cersei says Qyburn to do something *poof* its Jaqen/Nymeria. Then Cersei's treachery comes to an end.

I imagine Jamie works his way into this scene somehow but not sure. I guess thats why they pay the DB boys the big bucks.

Meg, you're embarrassing yourself now.

rwoody, you make a valid point let me send this theory to reddit. See if they can workshop it some. But I think this is pretty much the broad direction of the rest of Arya's storyline.

Ned wearing Arya's dead face, now that is a laugh.

^^lol I was thinking the same thing.

Faceless Men are not an army. They are assassins. If anything they would be pissed at Arya for casting aside her training early and leaving for the sole purpose of settling a personal vendetta. When she signed up she swore an oath to cast aside her previous life entirely.

Why weren't giant crossbows used like that against dragons in the past though? I feel like with something like that, you've only got one shot. If you miss, or only injure the dragon, it is gonna be pissed and roast the thing before there is a chance to reload.
