That Cena injury looked legit. If he's out for Wrestlemania, they'll be begging CM Punk to come back.

So instead of giving fans what they want, Hunter's gonna insert himself in a match against DB. Dude has no business getting in a ring with Bryan & crowd is going to completely shit on Orton-Batista ( who also has no business in ring ).

What's the main event? Honestly... Taker/Lesnar?

This will be one of the worst WM's in a while

Hogan hosting - He called the WWE Network the WWE Universe. Just an old blabber
Orton/Batista - Blah. So bad. Not to mention HHH's bffs
DBry/HHH - Will probably go 45 minutes to stroke HHH's ego
Cena/Wyatt - Should be the main event but will probably lead it off
Shield vs itself - Epic triple threat
Usos/New Age Outlaws - More HHH bffs
Undertaker/Brock - UT is reallllly old and won't move well. Brock is never one to carry a match especially vs. someone that will be far beyond his game. This one will be ugly.

There needs to be SERIOUS changes to the card. Maybe (doubtful but I can hope) the whole Punk thing is a work and he comes back to fight the power, take on HHH and kick DBry out of his match to insert him into championship match.... Hey, one could hope. That's the only saving grace for WMXXX.

I'm going to Wrestlemania this year, so I'm hopeful the next 5 weeks can give it a decent build. If not though, I'll just get drunk and help the rest of the crowd shit all over it.

WWE is in Chicago tonight and opened with a Paul Heyman promo doing a big cocktease of C.M. Punk, who did not appear and Heyman turned it into bringing out Lesnar.

Usos beat the New Age Outlaws for the tag titles.

The Batista-Orton match will die if it's just them two in it. If it is just them two, you're pretty much guaranteed an Undertaker-Lesnar main event.

if anyone else on here is watching TNA, what do you think of Sam Shaw?

they have a show this weekend, their all steel cage match PPV Lockdown from Miami, you can tell they're doing the forced youth movement:

Magnus (TNA champion) vs. Samoa Joe - TNA Championship
Team MVP (MVP, Jeff Hardy, Eddie Edwards, Davey Richards) vs. Team Dixie (Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, Robbie E, Jessie Godderz)
Madison Rayne (Knockouts champion) vs. Gail Kim - Knockouts Championship
Gunner vs. James Storm
Kurt Angle vs. Ethan Carter III
The Great Muta, Seiya Sanada, Yasafumi Nakanoueno vs. Christopher Daniels, Kazarian, Chris Sabin
Mr. Anderson vs. Samuel Shaw
Tigre Uno vs. Manik

Thoughts on this youth movement:

-Magnus (a homegrown guy) pulls off carrying the belt pretty well as far as presence.
-Edwards & Richards are what they were as a tag team in ROH. They can definitely work. Edwards talks better than Davey and also has more height which helps. Their work is what will get them over and they'll get the tag belts at some point, at which I'll look forward to them vs. Daniels & Kazarian.
-Ethan Carter is going to be a star, as much as one can be in TNA. He's in a program with Angle and holds up his end very well looking like he belongs in the ring with Angle. Gets good heat for a heel as well.
-Shaw is playing a guy that is overly obsessed with Christy Hemme in the "stalker that loves a girl so much he'll abduct her and kill anyone else that gets near her" way. He has psycho down well. Mr. Anderson in England got them to chant "Creepy Bastard" at him at least.
-Seiya Sanada is a Japanese wrestler that just won the X Division title from Aries on a card in Japan as part of a co-promotion with the Japanese Wrestle-One promotion. He's going to be in TNA for awhile to be the champ that tries to rebuild the X Division to its former greatness. One of his tag partners on this card is the Great Muta (Keiji Mutoh), a Japanese legend. Stateside he headlined in WCW in the early '90s.
-Tigre Uno is a newly signed wrestler from AAA in Mexico and will debut at Lockdown.

part of the problem with TNA for me (and I haven't watched in a few months, after being one of their 4,000 fans for a few years) is that they keep changing things apparently for the sake of change. The X division is what initially drew me in when AJ, Samoa Joe, Petey Williams, Christopher Daniels, Kaz, Jay Lethal, Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt, etc... were going out there and KILLING it with a combination of spotfests and some legitimately great matches. Then they said "oh, there's a 225lb weight limit" which meant no Joe. Then they got rid of that rule. Then they brought in Douglas Williams to make the X division mat-based technical wrestling. After realizing that sucked, they gimmicked it up beyond stupidity with Suicide. Surprise, that sucked. So they open the weight limits and have Austin Aries crush it for a year. Realizing he's over, they have him cash in the X title which tells the audience "THIS TITLE DOESN'T MATTER!"

such stupidity.

how did you not like Doug Williams as X Division champ? him decrying high flying in the high flying division was great heel heat, all his opponents still would do the high flying

Raw opens with Hogan coming out. Makes an announcement there will be a 30-man over-the-top battle royal at WrestleMania where the winner gets a trophy that looks like Andre the Giant. Out comes Cena. Out comes Bray. Cena retorting to Bray starts to sing Margaritaville.

I'd say pretty obvious at this point that Bryan going over is the result from Sunday. Otherwise, this build has been a waste.

Interested to see what direction they will go post WM. Need something big to keep the YES momentum going. Orton/Batista/Cena won't cut it. Would LOVE to see Punk come back for another program with DB but that ain't happenin.

Bryan's gotta go over. The only other acceptable outcome is that Punk comes back and costs him the title, which would be epic. But we know that won't happen. Sigh.

that's about the only thing they could do to get me to mark out. if HHH wins the title I'm likely to smash my laptop. though, I'm expecting the HHH/DB match to end in some sort of fashion where the title match becomes a fatal 4 way

Part of me knows Punk is weird/crazy enough to be legitimately done. But I think he's gotta cash in on this - a comeback and program with DB right now would push him to #1a in the company, ahead of Cena IMO. He's nuts to walk now, but apparently that's what he's all about.

Real interested to see what the direction is post WM. Don't think you can count on Orton or Batista after Sunday. Would be awesome to get Punk back involved. I don't think Hunter/Vince are stupid enough to just let him walk away from all of this. Lots of money to be made with a DB/Punk feud.

One thing I can see them doing is bringing back Punk next year and have Bryan vs. Punk at WM 31. Could even save it for WM 32, if that's really gonna be in Dallas. I think they will try and set a record at 32, and Punk vs. Bryan could put 100k+ in that stadium, esp. if Punk stays out that long.

I think if Bryan wins they take the title off him almost immediately for him to chase the title. Batista will almost definitely be an opponent of his regardless (Orton should be done in the title picture and they did a Bryan-Orton program for a few months last year already, so I see him getting pinned and if Bryan wins, Batista coming out the night after pointing out he didn't lose.)

My current sadistic desire dream match is around Summerslam time for Brock Lesnar to face Bryan for the title. Bryan would bump 20 feet in the air for Lesnar.

A great horrible finish idea I came up with to end Mania:

In the main event, Orton and Batista will double team Bryan after a ref bump with chairs and such. But out comes WrestleMania host Hulk Hogan to save the day. Real American blaring. Crowd goes nuts. Hulk enters the ring, Orton and Batista clear, and Hulk then gives Bryan the leg drop. Orton and Batista laugh, and Orton makes the cover to retain the title. Hogan calls it the Old World Order with all 3 laughing as Mania goes off the air.

Daniel Bryan vs HHH ends in a No Contest after Stephanie McMahon interferes and accidentally hits HHH in the face with an iPad logged into the WWE App. Real American hits and Hogan limps to the ring, and after using up all the time saved for the Undertaker entrance, announces the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match will be a Battle Royal with The Game, The Goat, The Animal, and The Viper.

during backstage promos, HHH is seen arguing with Stephanie about her interference, and while she screams at him about being the principal owner, he steps out into the hall to make a phone call, saying he'll take things into his own hands

in the main event, DB manages to eliminate The Viper and The Animal, leaving it HHH vs DB once again, this time with everything on the line. as HHH goes for the sledgehammer, he can't find one under the ring. DB hits him from behind and throws him into the spanish announce table. suddenly, Thus Spoke Zarathustra hits, and out comes The Nature Boy! he runs down to stop Bryan, but Bryan leaps to the turnbuckle and dives, taking out Flair and leaving him laid out with Batista and Orton. Bryan goes back to finish off HHH, but a hooded figure comes out from under the ring with a shovel and attacks the referee. the distraction buys HHH time to recover, and he grabs the shovel and cracks Bryan in the head. Flair, Orton, and Batista come to, and all run to the ring, seemingly to break up the pin, but instead circle around HHH as the cloaked figure counts to three.

the bell rings, and HHH is declared champion. Evolution stands and applauds, and the cloak is pulled back to reveal...VINCENT KENNEDY MCMAHON. He is handed a microphone, stands over the broken body of Daniel Brian, and screams "IT WAS ME, BRYAN!!! IT WAS ME ALL ALONG!!!"

Fade to black.

British MMA/wrestling magazine Fighting Spirit had a good article in their most recent edition on the Ultimate Warrior/WWF relationship in the '90s. Wrestling Observer had a podcast about it yesterday with the writer. The sources for all this is the federal government as all the information is from records for the two lawsuits between the two sides and it had a lot of personal communication between Vince and Warrior.

Some details I can recall from the show:

-Warrior was upset he was not paid the same as Hogan at the Mania he faced Randy Savage and Hogan faced Sgt. Slaughter as by that point he considered himself an equal star. Warrior stated he received $550k for that Mania in advance to pay for his house, but Warrior in letters said he knew Hogan was making more and didn't believe that number to be fair.
-When Vince was scared of the feds and installed a drug testing policy, Warrior failed every single drug test.
-Warrior stated he was upset that Vince's bodybuilders could use steroids but he could not, and voluntarily told Vince in a letter that he tried to import growth hormone into the country for himself to use, having it sent to his chauffeur.
-When told this, Vince apparently immediately fired Warrior. Meltzer said this was actually important in wrestling history then because Warrior and Davey Boy Smith were fired on the same day for growth hormone use, and Bret Hart got his first-ever world title reign out of nowhere within the next week because they had to create a new babyface immediately.
-Aforementioned chauffeur receiving the growth hormone had the box intercepted by customs in Boston, a customs agent opened it up, took out the growth hormone, and sealed the box back up with nothing in it and sent it to the chauffeur. The chauffeur was never arrested or had anything done to him.
-Warrior's lawsuit here was in regards to growth hormone use was not against WWF drug policy by the letter of the law. (We're more than 20 years on and they still don't have a foolproof test for it, so he's an idiot for even stating it.)
-When Warrior went to WCW later in the '90s, Vince made a huge play to try and bring Warrior instead to WWF. What's crazy about this was that by this time, Austin was becoming the huge star in the company.
-If it seems odd to you that Linda McMahon is inducting Warrior into the Hall of Fame this weekend, there were also a lot of letters between Warrior and Linda in the government records, and Linda's mails are signed "Mom".

Debating on getting WWEN before the event...kinda want to see how they fuck it up. Is everyone else going with WWEN or staying cheap and sticking with bootleg feeds? I cant imagine anyone would buy the regular PPV at this point...

there's a lot of speculation on the stream crashing since they've had issues with the couple times they've done live matches on Tuesdays; problem is those shows have much less viewership than Mania will Sunday, and every wrestling company in the U.S. has had streams crash (including Mania last year), be assured several times it was allright, and then crash again the next show

thought about getting the Network, decided against it because usually if I watch wrestling in a week, it's more than enough of my time watching a majority but not all of the Raws and some Impacts, plus the occasional Sunday PPV; I just think if I get the Network I'd never watch it, so going bootleg

I already bought the network and it's really great. It'll only get better as more obscure material gets added (WCCW, AWA, Memphis stuff, etc).

With that said, we're having a big Mania party as per usual and will probably get it on PPV just to be safe.

^ ever notice the most entertaining people in wrestling are those that don't give a rat's ass?

About to start.

Couple notes: Vickie Guerrero's last night with the company. Christian was touch-and-go on being in the Battle Royal due to concussion symptoms.

pre-show match:

Quote :
"USOS VS. RYBACK & CURTIS AXEL VS. JACK SWAGGER & CESARO VS. LOS MATADORES FOR THE WWE TAG TITLES

This was just announced as being an elimination match, so it's going three falls instead of first pinfall.

Excellent opener, so much action it was hard to keep up with. The Usos retained when both Usos splashed onto Cesaro for the pin. Los Matadores were first out. They did dives and then Torito did a crossbody on Axel with everyone falling out of the ring with all the other wrestlers. Swagger won the first fall making Fernando (I think) submit to the Patriot lock. Second fall saw Cesaro pin Ryback with the Neutralizer, leaving the Real Americans vs. Usos. The crowd cheered both teams.

Swagger was yelling at Cesaro for losing. Fans immediately got behind Cesaro. Zeb tried to clam them down. Swagger put the Patriot lock on Cesaro and fans booed. Colter told him not to do it. Colter ordered Swagger to shake his hand. Fans wanted Cesaro to turn so bad. They shook hands but Cesaro gave Swagger ten reps with the giant swing. Colter was almost crying and Cesaro walked out on them."

Bryan has just taken two horrible bumps. One to the floor on a dive from the top rope where Hunter barely caught him, and another where Hunter tried to put him through the announcer's table and the table was solid and didn't give at all.

Stephanie is ringside being incredible as an over-the-top manager.

Bryan pinned Hunter in 26 minutes. A lot of former Chris Benoit moves in this match. Hunter did the crossface chickenwing and Bryan did rolling German suplexes into pinfalls.

The finish was Bryan got on his knees to block a pedigree. Hunter kneed him in the head a few times, and then got him up to do a suplex. Bryan landed on his feet and nailed Hunter with the flying knee as Hunter turned around to get the pinfall.

Post-match, Stephanie got in the ring and smacked Bryan a few times. With Bryan distracted, Hunter bashed him in the back of the head. Injured Bryan's shoulder on the ringpost and then smacked it with a chair.

Lawler and JBL suck on commentary.

Next match is Kane and the Outlaws vs. the Shield.

Over in a few minutes. They rushed through both team's entrances as the Shield's music interrupted Road Dogg talking. And then Kane hit.

Match was over in a few minutes and was pretty much a straight up squash with no heat spots for the heels. Shield dominated Kane and the Outlaws.

Next up is the Battle Royal. Only wrestlers that got entrances were Big Show and Sheamus. Everyone else already in the ring. So in other words, with only 7 matches on a 4-hour-long card they're way rushed for time at 75 minutes in.

Last 4: del Rio, Sheamus, Big Show, Cesaro. Del Rio and Sheamus eliminated each other. Left with Show and Cesaro. Cesaro tried to clothesline Show over the top rope and that didn't work. Cesaro was able to pick up Show and put him over the top rope to win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

It was a nothing match for most of it. Way too many guys in the ring. Only spot of any significance was Cesaro apparently eliminated Kofi, but Kofi was sent over the top by the stairs and with his back on the mats outside, his feet were on the bottom steps of the ringside stairs.

Next up Cena-Wyatt.

Wyatt throughout the match gave Cena the opportunity to disqualify himself by putting himself at his knees and Cena grabbing the ringside steps or giving him a chair. Cena put Harper through the barricade earlier. The finish was Wyatt giving Cena the chair, and Cena instead hit Erick Rowan who just got up to ringside. Wyatt tried a cradle, Cena got out of it, gave Wyatt an Attitude Adjustment and pinned Wyatt 1-2-3.
