How long does it take between getting the film to what we see in the trailer to releasing it in theatres. I look at the trailer and see a ton of finished scenes. It seems like its basically done with all the CG effects and everything. I guess I am asking, why wait to release it in 07?

Not in this sort of filmmaking. When the majority of the sets are CGI, you don't even have to shoot complete scenes together, or do reshoots all at once.

^^ i dont know about that, but i do think that the line at the end of the trailers, something along the lines of "they will know that few stood against many" is a very weak line, and they sem to want it to be sort of the tagline for the film, the idea isnt weak, but something about it just doesnt seem to make as big an impact as they seem to want it to make with me.

I dunno about that. "Before this battle is over, the world will know that few stood against many" seems appropriate as a tagline. That's why the story is acclaimed in the annals of history, the odds were ridiculous.

i just found out about this and watched the trailer

i hope it's as good as the trailer makes it out to be - we've all seen the disappointing films after kickass trailers.

i've been looking forward to a decent battle movie for quite some time now

i checked out their website and their production blog has so much stuff on it even from now. it makes me wonder why if not too many people know about the movie yet. they're kind of wasting all this effort right now.

I agree with sarijoul. The whole trailer just screamed "WE ARE SO BADASS! LOOK AT HOW BADASS WE ARE MOVING IN SLOW MOTION TO ROCK MUSIC!" I'm not saying it will be a bad movie but that trailer didn't give me any idea about what really happens in the movie. It's just a bunch of guys yelling and spitting out one-liners.

EDIT: I watched the apple.com trailer. It looks much better than the trailer in the first post. It does look nice, although it doesn't really get me all that hyped.

Seems to be a lot of good and allright cgi. The small bit of blood spatter you see coming from the guy's shoulder when being gored by the rino looks very out of place but otherwise its got some good shots in there, the shipwreck scene for example where you can see two guys if you look real close hangin on the ship to the left. I wonder what its going to look like come 5 months from now when all the editing and touching up is complete.
