Next weeks Best Buy ad includes a deal for a DVD trailer for 300 as well as movie cash to see 300 (up to $10.50 value) with the purchase of ANY DVD.

You can also purchase Alexander Revisted which already includes the same movie cash for 300, enabling you to get two tickets. Only problem is that often these free tickets arent usable for the first two weeks of release...not sure if thats the same deal with this one or not. Should be available 2/27.

Hey, I've worked in the movie theater industry for almost 8 years and I can't ever recall getting any of those checks that have a wait period like that. All the checks we get (the movie cash ones from DVD's or Mail in deals) they start the day the movie is released and expire about 4 months afterwards. Not trying to call you out. Not even saying you are wrong, because they might make an exception for that movie, just saying that isn't usually the case.

^if you are in emerald Isle, your best bet for a decent theater is going to jacksonville (45 mins-ish)
The one on the island is alright, but the screens are kinda small and not sure of the sound quality

...and they basically give you a fairground entry ticket and rip it in half for your entrance...the seats in that bitch are cheap as fuck and smell like ass...but hey...you don't really have any other option in EI 'cept for jacksonville like ^ said

it looks like an incredibly exhausting/boring yellfest with overstylized CGI.

YOU'RE BORING.

the previews do make it look like a "yellfest," but that's what the previews are trying to do... get you PUMPED UP. i guess.

because i've seen plenty of stuff on this bonus dvd best buy thing where they *gasp* AREN'T YELLING.

it looks like a yell fest because most of the trailer stuff is battle scenes and such...

it is a war movie after all.

and i got that best buy deal w/ american beauty for 10 best buy bux

We got our bookings in today, like most theaters we only got one print of 300. This really pissed me off. After many phone calls and lots of begging ...and whining, we are now getting two prints of 300. True story.

I didn't give this movie much expectations from the onset since I saw it was going to have mythology in it, instead of being historically accurate. This time I'm going to rely on how entertaining it is thrill wise. The cgi is what interest me most since it looks pretty good in this flick. Visuals can help carry a movie like they do a video game. Cgi was the only thing that got me through Star Wars Ep. 3 and I despised that movie. Then again, I'm the type of guy who finds Ep. 1 of the new Star Wars actually engaging (aside from the slow parts). I just hope it doesn't become yet another hyped up cheese fest.

Just so you guys know, there really is no historically accurate version of the battle at Thermopylae. There are various accounts, and if I remember correctly a lot of what we get is from Herodotus, who estimated the size of the Persian forces at around 5 million, including aides and valets. It's unclear if the territory could have supported an army of that size, given food and water restrictions. Some numbers have the Persian army at only a few hundred thousand, but either way it is impressive, since the standard claim for Greek forces is around 7 thousand.

The Greeks didn't INTEND to make a last stand there, it just happened. With the Olympics going on and other reasons, there were not enough Greek warriors sent in time from all around, and the Persians arrived sooner than expected. Combine that with the fact that since the Athenians lost the accompanying naval battle, and some people think Leonidas' last sacrifice was militarily stupid, considering he was not aiding the cause in any way. The only rational notion behind staying was that an oracle had foretold that either Sparta would fall or its king would die, so he chose to sacrifice himself at Thermopylae.

Of course, no matter what the real truth is, the movie looks awesome, and I can't wait to see it. I saw bits and pieces of a movie they made in the 50s or 60s that told the same story, but it was shit and I couldn't watch it all the way through.

Just saw the preview screening at ECU. It's amazing.

Visually it's right up there with Sin City. Really unusual, great style... it definitley works. Between the visuals and the narration it really captures the whole graphic novel feel but still manages to translate really well as a film. It's unbelievably violent, and I mean that in the best possible way. It's basically everything I thought it would be. Go see it.

There was a History Channel special about the movie and the real history last night. It was pretty interesting.

I'm pissed that this isn't going to be in Imax around here.

I'm just going to assume that if the movie isn't listed for a midnight showing at any of the movie theater websites in your city, then there isn't going to be one???

I've never done a midnight showing...but I really want to for this one. Can't believe a city like Charleston wouldn't have a movie theater that would do this.

Dude, I'm so tired of people talking about how this movie sucks for not being historically accurate (in person, not so much on tww)...

I mean, we saw the previews, yes, there are 300 Greek men without chest hair, big whoop.

did you call when they were open? (ie when shows are going on) and NOT at peak times (generally at the top of odd hours)

and wait for some other number in the recording (sometimes these are not said until the very end).
often a theater will have a specific number for showtimes, and then another office line.

Meh...I found one number for a big theater here that actually works. They said..."we're not showing it at midnight, check the paper to see if anyone else is." I had already checked the online paper...and they only have midnight showings.

I guess I'm just going to have to wait. I've got work tomorrow and saturday night though....I'll have to wait until Sunday!!!
