We seem to really like keeping Kurt Roper around for some reason... from QB coach in 2019 to RB 2020-22, back to QBs and to OC. He has been an OC before, at Duke (2008-2013) and Florida (2014), as well as a co-OC at South Carolina (2016-17), but does anyone really know what he does style-wise anymore? Of all our asst. coaches I think I hear the least about him year-to-year.

apparently Bailey was recruited by him and wanted him as OC.

He runs a LOT of bubble screens. He's a quick out guy. Reminds me of another screen happy OC we have had...

Rumor over on the Bright Leaf hotdog forums is that Bailey originally told Dave that he "better hire Jim Harbaugh as OC or he was gonna transfer", but Dave told him "no". Then Bailey said, "okay well how about coach Roper?". Then Dave said, "I'll hire coach Roper under one condition CJ". Then Bailey said, "what's that coach?". Then Dave said, "I'll hire coach Roper if you bring in Jeremiah Smith". Then Bailey said, "okay coach I'll see what I can do". Then Dave said, "thank you CJ, I appreciate you, now get out of my office". Then Bailey said, "okay coach see ya later"

I guess FAL was pissed he didn't get the DC job? Weird of him to accept a promotion and then leave like a week later. But yeah having 2 secondary coaches leave (him + deforest) does help explain 4 secondary players portalling.
