The Herb comparison is probably accurate but the key difference is that the basketball coach and football coach at NC State are generally held to different standards. Or at least 20 years ago they were. The further removed we are from past success in basketball the lower that standard gets.

When Herb was hired we were like 13 years removed from the ‘83 title and just a few years removed from conference title(s). We don’t have that measuring stick in football.

Very much alive., although based on this week's games so far i think we would have to hope UNC beats Duke? Because GT and BC both got boat raced today. Not sure, but i can't imagine we'd win any tiebreakers with Duke/UL if those are the teams we end up tied with.

Pretty shitty offense and QB situations the last 2 years (he is to blame in part for that, but injuries are just bad luck) and scrap together what he’s managed is pretty impressive. 8-4 reg season last year. 7 win minimum this year. Pretty good shit imo. Both seasons could’ve easily gone sideways.
