Cusquena is indeed delicious and cheap, as is our Cristal. In fact, everything here is cheap.

Peru demands a count of the votes, as it's been going on for awhile.

Sicily is denying access to its embassy to the pope. We do not recognize the Papal authority nor his reign over religion. Furthermore we feel his religion to be a disgrace to human thought and to have caused much harm and travesty over the course of its history.

Mexico wishes to send its condolences in advance to the delegate from Sicily, who has just assured his own death at the hands of the militantly Catholic and disturbingly well-armed Sicilian people he claims to represent.

In Mexico, we will commemorate the event with La Dia de La Muerte de Las Idiotas que Escupen en La Cara de su Gente. ("The Day of the Death of Idiots who Spit in the Face of Their People") It does not, how you say, roll of the tongue, but it gets the point across.

It having been motioned that a vote count be done, and that motion seconded, the Mexico delegation has taken the time to go through and provide the latest numbers for Secretary-General:

GrumpyGOP: 7 votes
Evan: 2 votes
Legatic: 3 votes

This is an informal count and may not include votes put in something other than the standard format.

My team has not yet come back with numbers on the resolutions, but it appears quite strongly that R01 and R02 have been soundly defeated, while R03 is passing virtually unopposed.

Sicily wishes to inform Mexico that it has already established with its own people its disdain for religion and allows all the freedom to practice any religion it wants, however it will not be nationally recognized. The Sicilian delegate has absolutely no fear of reprisal from its citizens.

It is truly unfortunate that nobody is representing Australia. New Zealand therefore wishes to provide benevolent oversight.

The Most Serene Republic of San Marino would offer our military to also help with anti-terrorism, but we're not quite sure where they are right now. I think they might've gone into town for a drink.

There's about 80 of them and they look like this:

They'll be driving little green and white patrol cars. If you see our military, please remind them to be back by midnight and keep their bullet in their pocket. Thank you.

In a decision based on mutual beneficence, Australia has chosen to merge with New Zealand. This union, with the central government located in New Zealand, will henceforth be recognized in the TWWUN as the Oceaniac Confederation.

The German delegation would like to remind the delegation from New Zealand that it may not unilaterally speak for Australia. No merger between countries will be formally recognized by the German delegation until all merging countries voice approval through their respective delegations and a resolution is passed for general recognition among the member nations of the UN.

I, Ian Booth, despite my thoroughly Anglo-Saxon nomenclature which appears to be totally incompatible with representation of los Estados Unidos de Mexico, do solemnly swear to uphold the integrity of the council of the United Nations, and to faithfully serve it for the duration of my term.

As the first orders of business for the Secretary General of the TWWUN, the following announcements are made, in keeping with the original deadlines set for voting and the acknowledged votes set thereto:

TWW R-01, a Vote Regarding Recognition of the Sovereignty of Sealand, is rejected
TWW R-02, a Vote Regarding the Movement of the TWWUN Thread from Chit Chat to the Lounge, is rejected
TWW R-03, a Vote Regarding a 48 Hour Voting Period on All TWWUN resolutions, is passed

As a result of these votes, made by the members of the United Nations General Assembly, Sealand is not recognized as an indepdent voting nation, though it may appeal or request observer status on par with that of Palestine.

Furthermore, the thread known as "TWW Model UN" shall not be moved to any other location.

Furthermore still, all votes shall take place over the course of 48 hours. However, the previously mentioned movement to extent this timeframe to 72 hours for purposes of weekend vacations shall be considered, and any future resolution specifically calling for a 72 hour voting period will be allowed such.

---

Lastly, any TWWUN member nation seeking a temporary spot on the Security Council may petition for such a position from this moment until the vote has filled all ten spots.. All previous petitions, having been made before the selection of a Secretary General with relevant authority, are disregarded. The application process shall begin immediately, to be terminated at the end of Monday, July 16th, EST. The voting process shall begin at that time, according to a timetable yet to be established.

The establishment of Deputy positions within the TWWUN shall also be established at or before that time

Canada feels that the Vatican joining the council would be a grave mistake. While Canada does recognize the sovereignty of the Holy City, we feel that the low population size as well as the religious ties would be a bad addition to the Council, as such Canada preemptively vetos that motion outright.

We do however, endorse Poland to enter as a member of the Security Council

The Repubic of Ireland would like to officially announce it's seeking of a position on the Security Council.

Also, we seek a treaty with the United States, we'll give you Jameson's if you give us Jack Daniels.

Oh, and we'd like to unify Ireland, annexing Northern Ireland from England if at all possible.

as far as Secretary General goes, GrumpyGOP would make a stalwart leader, but methinks Evan might be the man of the hour. Our nomination goes to him in order to make this a more intersting contest.

You cannot endorse yourself, only a current Security Council member can do that.

With that said, Canada, endorses Peru to have some representation from South America on the council. Germany also has Canada's endorsement

The Oceaniac Confederation respectfully reminds the German delegate that the unification of Australia and New Zealand was not unilateral: the people of Australia also requested this unification via recent national referendum.

Furthermore, the Oceaniac Confederation avers that the TWWUN does not have the authority to deny its existence. In the referendum, the people overwhelmingly favored this unification, and a peaceful transitional government is now in effect. Voting was scrupulously fair.

The Oceaniac Confederation requests a temporary seat on the TWWUN Security Council.

Belguim is already a temporary member of the UN SC.... but we see that we intend to create a new one....

the sublime Belgium republic proposes a unification of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxemburg to be named Greater Belgium aka Benelux... this proposition revolves around historical congruities between these three nations and the current state of their intertwined economics. Additionally at least one of the benelux countries has usually been appointed to fill one of the elected Westren European seats on the UNSC

It might be noted to certain delegates here that nomination for seats on the Security Council does not constitute a Resolution and is therefore for not subject to Permament Member veto authority.

Secondly, for simplicity's sake self-nominations will be accepted. This course has also been undertaken to prevent the already powerful permanent members from stacking the deck in their favor. We will let the election process weed out those delegates who have naught but their own support.

Thirdly, the delegate from Ireland would do well to note that elections for the position of Secretary General have ended.

Fourthly, the so-called Oceanic Confederation made several impassioned but ill-informed demands for immediate recognition. The delegate will remember that the right to determine admittance into the TWWUN is in that august body's hands; indeed, the UN managed to ignore a billion screaming Chinese for quite a while.

---

The following states have been nominated for a temporary seat on the TWWUN Security Council, according to their respective regional blocs:

Western Europe and Others (two spots):
The Vatican
Spain
Ireland
Germany
The Oceanic Confederation

Latin America and the Carribean (two spots):
Peru

Eastern Europe (one spot)
Greece
Poland

Asia (two spots):
none

Africa (three spots):
none

As of right now, only the Western and Eastern blocs will be subject to any election. Unless a new South American delegate joins before the end of voting on Monday, South America's spots will be filled by Peru and Colombia by default, pending deliberations to decide an alternative plan of action regarding unfilled seats.
